2018 Honda Pilot
2018 Honda Pilot is a restyled version of the third-generation Japanese crossover. The car went on sale in the USA market in mid-2018. The vehicle received good equipment and an excellent set of security systems, even for the basic configuration. Restyling was made to increase sales of the crossover, which began to fall due to the inability to compete with the "classmates" – Toyota Highlander 2018 and Ford Explorer.
Appearance and dimensions of Honda Pilot 2018
You will not be able to understand at first glance that the car belongs to business-class crossovers from the exterior of the car. The appearance turned out to be quite simple compared to competitors. Although, if you look closely, you can also notice a few interesting points:
- a massive and original-looking radiator grille with three plates;
- plastic protection of the front part of the body, in the lower part of which there are "fog lights”;
- body kit, chrome trim and extended wheel arches that make the crossover design more aggressive;
- large and unusual shaped tail lights;
- chrome door handles;
- hidden in the rear bumper exhaust pipes.
The length of the car is 4,954 m, width – 1,997 m, height – 1,788 m. Thanks to this size, 8 people can fit inside - two in the front, and three - in the second and third rows. The ground clearance of 200 mm is large enough for driving on bad roads, although it does not allow this crossover to be considered a real SUV.
Interior
There are the following features of the interior design of the Honda Pilot 2018-2019 model year:
- a massive steering wheel with an unusual lower support;
- small, but conveniently located color screen of the on-board computer;
- compact display of the entertainment system on the center console, next to which the climate controls are located;
- the tunnel between the front seats, the size of which has become larger, and the surface has turned out to be glossy – here is also the control unit for the entertainment system and automatic transmission.
Two versions of the car are available for sale – with 7 and 8 seats. The seven-seat version has two separate seats on the second row, while the eight-seat version has a shared three-seat seat. Despite this maximum number of passengers, there is enough space for everyone – even for the feet of people who will sit in the back seats.
Technical characteristics of the 2018 Honda Pilot
The technical characteristics of the 2018 Honda Pilot have not changed – both the chassis and the engine remain the same. The powertrain on the crossover uses a 3.0-liter engine with a capacity of 249 HP - a parameter that allows you to reduce the amount of vehicle tax. The average fuel consumption for a car is about 10.4 liters for combined mode, 14.3 liters for city and only 8.2 liters for highway. Fuel consumption indicators are quite high for a conventional car, but relatively small for an eight-seat vehicle.
Additional motors are available in the USA market. So, one of the variants intended for the United States Honda Pilot is equipped with a 284-horsepower 3.5-liter engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The Luggage compartment of the car turned out to be large enough even for an eight-seat configuration. The trunk can accommodate up to 524 liters of cargo. When you fold the last row, you can increase the space to 1583 liters, and if you add the second one, the volume increases to 3,093 cubic meters.
The crossover is characterized by an increased level of safety, which is proved by both test drives and crash tests. So, when checking according to the standards of the IIHS Institute, the Pilot received the highest rating on almost all points. NCAP testing was not carried out, since the majority of cars are sent to the American market, and not to Europe.
