2019 Ram 1500 with advanced equipment

Among the highlights of the 2018 Detroit Auto Show was the debut of the fifth generation of the 2018-2019 Ram 1500 full-size pickup. The long-awaited novelty of the North American market appeared in an updated design with a “thinner” chassis design and an abundance of high-tech innovations that should help the Ram 1500 impose more serious competition on the established Chevrolet Silverado and Ford F-150 segment leaders.

Fresh Design

The new Ram 1500 received a more modern look with a prominent hood relief, an abundance of chrome in the trim of small elements and LED head optics. A lot of technical innovations have also been introduced, among which the radiator grille with active blinds stands out, as well as the front spoiler integrated into the bumper, which extends automatically at high speeds. All this helped to improve the drag coefficient of the body by 9%, bringing it to 0.357.

As before, the pickup truck is offered with several cab options (Single Cab, Quad Cab, Crew Cab) and different lengths of the loading platform, which is why customers have three wheelbase sizes available at once: 3568, 3670 and 3900 mm. The overall length of the car added just over 100 mm, the junior cab was only 25 mm longer, while the full-fledged two-row cab grew by 102 mm.

Completely New Interior

The interior, according to the developers, has been redesigned by almost 99%. Editing of each element, coupled with the increased size of the body, provided a tangible increase in free space around the entire perimeter of the cabin. Even on the second row, it was possible to add about 100 mm of freedom in the legs, which is quite noticeable, especially in combination with doors extended by 25 mm, which provide an even more comfortable fit. The amount of usable space for storing goods has also increased. For example, the box, located between the front seats, now holds up to 38 liters of various small things instead of the previous 23.

There is also new electronics. For the Ram 1500, three "multimedias" are available at once with displays of 5.0, 8.4 and 12 inches (the latter is very similar to the similar display of the new Tesla models). In addition, the pickup truck can be equipped with all-round cameras, an active noise reduction system, seat ventilation in both rows, advanced Harman Kardon Premium acoustics, a panoramic roof, adaptive cruise control, a lane keeping system, blind spot monitoring, parking assistant. If the standard fabric interior with plastic panels is not attractive enough, then for an extra charge you can trim the interior with leather and wood inserts from elite wood.

2018-2019 Ram 1500 Equipment

In the new generation, the Dodge Ram 1500 is equipped mainly with hybrid power plants based on the engines used on the previous model. Of course, the engines have undergone point improvements in order to increase their reliability and environmental friendliness, but in general, these are atmospheric units V6 3.6 Pentastar and V8 5.7 Hemi that are well known to the owners of the Ram 1500 IV. The first is capable of developing up to 309 hp. power and provide a pickup truck with traction at the level of 365 Nm. The flagship engine already guarantees 401 “horses” and 556 Nm.

Both engines work in conjunction with a completely redesigned 8-speed "automatic" gearbox and are complemented by a 48-volt E-Torque starter-generator, powered by a lithium-ion battery, the capacity of which is limited to 0.43 kWh. The E-Torque system allows the motors to be momentarily over-powered for quicker acceleration from standstill.
