2020 Mazda CX-30: Built to Shine

In March 2019, at the Geneva Motor Show, the Japanese presented their new crossover – the Mazda CX-30. The company immediately reported that the new product is positioned as a global model, which means it will be presented in most international markets.

The “face” of the compact crossover demonstrates predatory head optics, a signature false radiator grille, a raised hood and a clearly aligned front bumper with a small air intake in the center.

The car's profile pleases the eye with wavy sidewalls, a domed roof, and circular wheel arches in which 16- or 18-inch wheels can be installed. The massive plastic body kit that runs along the entire perimeter of the body deserves special attention.

The laconic rear is represented by original high-mounted side lights, a powerful bumper, a large luggage compartment door and a pair of exhaust system “trunks”.

According to the latest data, the ground clearance is 175 mm, which is more than enough for comfortable movement through the urban jungle.

It is also known that Mazda CX-30 buyers will be able to choose one of 9 body colors, three of which are completely new. We are talking about colors such as crystal red, machine and polymetallic gray.

2020 Mazda CX-30 Interior

The interior of the new Mazda CX-30 is exactly the same as that of the latest Mazda 3 sedan and hatchback, which means that the buyer can expect high-quality finishing materials, impeccable assembly and well-tuned ergonomics.

In front of the “pilot”, there is a stylish three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a laconic instrument panel, represented by three analogue dials. At the top of the central part of the central dashboard, the manufacturer placed an 8.8-inch screen for the navigation and multimedia system.

Below, there is the climate system control unit, represented by two multifunctional knobs and several mechanical buttons. Opposite the front passenger, there is a long section of air ducts and a fairly spacious glove compartment.

For front passengers, comfortable seats are offered with a wide range of adjustments, good lateral support and modern amenities of civilization.

Between the seats, there is a high tunnel on which there is a wide armrest, a gear selector, a media system control puck and several auxiliary buttons, including an electric parking brake button.

The rear sofa is designed for two passengers, but in reality three people can easily fit here. There is exactly as much free space as needed. Amenities include a separate air duct unit and a folding center armrest.

The trunk volume is 430 liters, and the manufacturer has provided the possibility of increasing it by folding the backrests of the rear sofa. Under the raised floor there is space for a spare tire and a small repair kit. It’s worth mentioning here that for an additional fee the luggage compartment lid can be equipped with an electric drive.

2020 Mazda CX-30 Specifications

The manufacturer notes that the new product was developed simultaneously with the latest generation of Mazda 3 hatchback and sedan. This means that the cars have a single platform, represented by a front independent and rear semi-independent suspension. In the first case, the suspension is represented by MacPherson struts, and in the second - by a beam working in bending.

As standard, the car will receive drive on the front axle, but as an option it is possible to install a proprietary all-wheel drive system with a pre-installed G-Vectoring Control Plus function.

In the European market, the car is equipped with diesel, mild hybrid and gasoline engines. Standing apart is the latest powerplant in the Skyactiv-X line, equipped with a drive supercharger and SPCCI technology.
