2023 Restyled Ford Edge

In 2018, Ford released an updated version of the 2023 Edge, having presented it at the Detroit Auto Show. This was done to maintain demand, because in the USA the crossover remains the leader of the segment, and now its sales will grow even more.

New exterior

Visually, the car has changed a lot, of course, these are point improvements, but they change the image radically. Let's start with the large elements - a new hexahedral chrome radiator grille, the design of which depends on the configuration. The form factor of the head optics has been changed, now it is diode with L-shaped DRLs. Due to the change in shape, the headlights are no longer connected to the grille.

The bumpers have been changed, now fog lights are adjacent to the side of the plastic false air intakes, and the plastic itself is framed with chrome, depending on the version. Previously, an interesting solution was used - instead of chrome, a lamp of this shape. The double bumper protrusion with chrome trims looks great.

On the side, the chrome line continues as a threshold insert. The strip does not reach the arch, and after the end, the door enlargement looks unusual. It was the same before, although the threshold was plastic. Otherwise, the Edge shape remained the same with identical lines, arch expansion and decor. It looks a little different because of the bumpers and headlights.

The crossover's stern remained approximately with the old lights, but they decided to abandon the solid light in favor of separate ones. The trunk lid has been adjusted, forming a mini-spoiler above the headlights in addition to the large upper anti-wing. The double bumper expansion looks cool, especially the first one, coming out of the fashionable recesses (false air intakes). Instead of round exhaust pipes, the car got rectangular vertical nozzles - powerful.

Interior of the new Edge

It is much more difficult to find something new inside. The car also remained with a good finish, lots of leather and decorative inserts. The seats have changed only in the embossed upholstery. Otherwise, the front has the same thick seats, electrically adjustable in 10 directions, and a solid sofa in the back.

The driver still has the same 3-spoke steering wheel with many buttons. The dashboard has been changed, now in the top trim levels it will become completely virtual, simulating analog sensors.

The main display remains the 8-inch touchscreen of the Sync 3 multimedia, which supports voice control and pairing with smartphones. The lower large block of buttons for controlling the audio system and climate control remains in the same style.

The central tunnel has undergone the most changes. Now under its cover there is a niche with wireless charging for a smartphone. The very shape of the Ford Edge tunnel has changed, and the main innovation was the e-Shifter washer instead of the usual gear lever. Because of this, all other parts have changed their location.

The trunk volume remains the same. The owner has 602 liters available, and the folded back seat gives 1847 liters.

Electronic assistants

The car has been upgraded in the area of safety, as it has been given three new systems: side impact prevention, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, moving the car behind the one in front.

This is in addition to the old systems for recognizing road signs and pedestrians, upgraded parking assistant, automatic emergency braking and monitoring of side cars when driving in reverse.
