2024 Audi S5 Cabriolet
In early November 2016, Audi organized an online presentation of the "charged" convertible S5, the open debut of which took place a little later - as part of the international auto show in Los Angeles. In the car developing, the Germans used all the advanced technologies that they had already tested on the same-name models with a closed body type, and left a multi-layer fabric roof in its arsenal.
Exterior
The "hot" essence of the Audi S5 Cabriolet is given out by the radiator grille with double slats, the rear bumper with a pseudo-diffuser and a quartet of exhaust pipes, exterior mirrors painted in silver, uniquely designed wheel rims and "S5" nameplates around the perimeter of the body.
The open version of the S5 is 4692 mm long, and its height and width fit into 1368 mm and 1846 mm, respectively. The car has a 2765 mm gap between its axles.
Interior
The interior of the Audi S5 Cabriolet is borrowed from the "civilian" model, but it has some minor improvements - a sports multi-wheel truncated at the bottom, "S5" logos, bucket-shaped front seats with a diamond-shaped pattern, and a significant amount of leather, Alcantara, and aluminum in the trim.
In other respects, the two-door model repeats its standard "brother" and demonstrates a luxurious design with a bunch of progressive options, the highest level of performance, a two-seater "gallery" and a 380-liter cargo compartment (the fabric top "hides" in 15 seconds and rises in 18 seconds).
Specifications
The underhood space of the S5 is filled with a petrol V-shaped six-cylinder 3.0 TFSI engine with a block made of "winged metal", a two-flow turbocharger, a direct feed system and variable valve timing technology, the potential of which reaches 354 "horses" at 5400-6400 rpm and 500 Nm at 1370-4500 rpm. The engine works in conjunction with an 8-speed automatic transmission ZF and quattro all-wheel drive, equipped with a Torsen center differential, which standardly directs 40% of the traction to the front and 60% to the rear wheels. The capabilities of the Audi S5 Cabriolet are pleasantly impressive: the speedometer needle rolls over the first "hundred" in 5.1 seconds, and continues to move up to 250 km/h (the "maximum" is fixed electronically). In a combined cycle, 7.7-7.8 liters of fuel per 100 km of travel evaporate from the tank. There are few technical differences between the "charged" convertible and the standard model - "evil" brakes with 355-millimeter "pancakes" and six-piston calipers on the front axle and more sporty suspension calibrations. The two-door is based on the MLB Evo platform with a "double wishbone" in the front and a "multi-link" in the rear, an electromechanical power steering and ventilated brake discs "all around".
Safety/Convenience
The Audi S5 has plenty of standard safety features, such as a rearview camera, lane departure warning, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). It also has an electronic vehicle immobilizer and tire pressure monitoring (TPM).
Audi dynamic steering changes the steering response depending on the speed of the car. At higher speeds, the steering ratio becomes lighter to smooth out sudden movements. Due to some issues, some drivers recommended sticking with the standard fixed-ratio steering setup. Standard three-zone climate control helps to keep the driver and passengers comfortable and cool.
This convertible coupe easily accommodates four bags as cargo, and the low liftover height and wide trunk make it easy to load items into the cargo area.
