Acura TLX 2018: new premium sedan concept

Last spring, the successful presentation of the prestigious Acura TLX 2018 four-door premium sedan took place. Compared to its predecessor, the new version of the popular sports car has a more aggressive body design, an increased level of interior comfort and high-tech equipment.

The restyled auto of the TLX series of the 2019 sample is included in the lineup, developed in accordance with the new corporate concept.

Designed in a corporate style, the new TLX A-Spec model, equipped with 19-inch wheels, a rear spoiler and a sports body kit, is aimed at the youth driver category.

Classic style and discreet design with a lot of chrome decor are the characteristic features of the V6 TLX sedan, designed for drivers of an older age group.

The entire model range is characterized by high quality on-board electronic equipment and road safety systems.

Exterior

The new 2018-2019 TLX Akura received a wedge-shaped front end configuration with a large pentagonal radiator lining and exclusive Jewel Eye optics units with LED turn signals.

The embossed logo of the brand is installed on the radiator panels. The massive bumper has got air intakes closed with a fine mesh. It also has completely updated look of the wings and hood.

The new body of the youth version of the A-Spec is supplemented by an aerodynamic spoiler located on the luggage compartment lid, a rear diffuser and increased diameter of the exhaust pipes.

From the side view, the new Akura is effortlessly identified by the characteristic silhouette of the roof, high notches of the wheel arches, and the original design of the cast 19-inch wheels.

The stern part of the sedan attracts attention with a large angle of the window inclination, the wedge-shaped lamps, the chrome trim of the massive bumper and a sports body kit with trapezoidal exhaust tips.

Interior

The interior decoration of the cabin is almost 100% copied from the previous model. Among the finishing and decorative materials, there are special dressing genuine leather and precious wood. The main emphasis is made on updating equipment and improving the efficiency and reliability of security systems.

There are:

• expanded functionality of the ODMD 2.0 multimedia complex and touch command-information displays;
• basic versions of Acura TLX 2018 are equipped with technically advanced road safety systems;
• electronic systems are assigned with the functions of collision avoidance and automatic braking monitoring when obstacles appear on the road;
• a special system monitors road markings and signals that the vehicle leaves the occupied row.

It should be noted that on-board electronics of this level by other manufacturers in most cases are offered as additional options.

Specification

The planned restyling provided the designers with the opportunity of:

• refinement of the chassis and electric power steering;
• suspension updates by installing other types of springs and stabilizing lateral stability;
• adapting all-wheel drive to the design features of a less powerful 4-cylinder sedan.

In the basic configuration, there are only two gasoline engine. In the first version, it is a 2.4-liter DOHC I-VTEC drive with power and torque indicators of 208 hp and 274 Nm. The traction characteristics of the power unit are realized by an 8-speed robotic transmission with a double-disk clutch.

A more powerful 3.5-liter engine, 290 hp/ 362 Nm, works in tandem with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Four-wheel Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) provides a high level of security at high speeds and when driving on roads with problematic terrain.
