Taking into account the hype around compact cars of urban profile, the Bavarian automobile industry has restyled the branded hatchback on schedule, which will continue the model range under the name BMW 1-series 2022.
Modified in many ways, the new model in different configurations provides a choice of several diesel and gasoline units operating in productive tandem with manual transmission and automatic transmissions.
Exterior
In the process of working on the appearance of the legendary five-door, the wishes of motorists of different age categories are taken into account. In the new edition, the branded "one" sample of 2022 demonstrates a combination of functionality, business practicality and elements of a youth, somewhat brutal sports and aggressive style.
In the design of the front, there are layout details typical for the design of European and Asian sports cars of the new generation. There are:
- raised stepped profiles of the hood sidewalls;
- decorative chrome plating of branded "nostrils" of the radiator grille;
- polygonal contours of the powerful front optics LED blocks complemented by the original running illumination.
Aggression also dominates the configuration of the lower tier of the front. There is a compact format of a slightly protruding bumper, a ribbed grille of the ventilation air intake and LED fog lights installed on the horizontal bridges of the side diffusers.
The design of the front is completed by a silver metal shell of a small-sized plastic body kit. Along with bright and expressive chrome accents, the decorating properties are assigned to a variety of elements of stepped and wave reliefs.
With a side view, the new body demonstrates a harmonious combination of the basics of the classic hatchback layout with modern technical and technological solutions.
In accordance with the status, the BMW 1-series 2022 is equipped with a panoramic roof, a spacious format of window and door openings, increased body clearance in relation to urban counterparts. The new version of the branded five-door looks more practical in the rear angle. In structural and layout features, there are:
- compact format of a decorative spoiler equipped with stop lights;
- stepped surface decorated with the brand logo and ribbed elements of the trunk lid body decor;
- complex configuration of multifunctional dimensional-stop lampshades;
- the predominance of less aggressive wave reliefs in relation to the front.
The main visual accents of the massive body kit are a silver protective panel and chrome-plated ends of two large-caliber exhausts.
Interior

The interior of the cabin for five seats without noticeable changes is copied from the more presentable older models of the branded range. The interior of the Bavarian "one" demonstrates the premium quality of decorative and finishing materials, fabrics, natural perforated leather and high-quality plastics.
Electronic and technical equipment of the front panel is presented:
- analog-to-digital informative device and a set of diffusers;
- 9-inch diagonal supplemented with command functions of the console's media and information display;
- two remote controls with numerous activators and tuning elements of component options.
The tunnel structure includes a compact transmission shift lever, a multimedia washer, cup holders and a premium list of organizers useful on long trips. A fairly roomy refrigerator is built under the armrest.
Taking into account the configuration, standard pilot seats or bucket-type sports seats are installed in the hatchback cabin. The service includes lateral support, a set of adjustment functions, heating and ventilation circuits.
Technical specifications
The modified body dimensions of the BMW 1-Series 2022 model are formatted in proportional figures of 4329 x 1765 and 1,440 mm. Unlike its predecessor in 2016, the novelty is based on a front-wheel drive with an axle base chassis of 2690 mm and a ground clearance height of 140 mm.
In the basic configuration, the novelty is driven by a turbocharged gasoline "four" TwinPower Turbo with operating parameters of 1.6 l / 136 hp / 220 N*m of peak thrust. The test drive showed that the starting speed and traction characteristics of the engine meet the passport data stated by the manufacturer.
In tandem with an 8-band rear-wheel drive automatic transmission, the hatchback accelerates to the first hundred in 8.7 seconds and confidently gains speed up to 210 km/h.
