BMW X1 is the most conservative representative of the Bavarian company, although when a subject takes the BMW brand, here even the youngest representatives of the line evoke admiration. The same was with the restyling model X1, which was presented at the motor show in New York in 2012.

Externally, solid outlines were added to the novelty. The relief of the front bumper became more muscular, and the bloated nostrils of the radiator grille also added masculinity. Wheel arches are covered in the latest fashion with the unpainted plastic elements. And it is as if the size of this edge was thought out for frequent trips to the country for off-road racing. It is strange, given the fact that X1owners usually prefer asphalt surface.

Frankly speaking, when you look at the junior representative of the BMW line, you even not immediately realize that this is X1. No, of course, a knowledgeable person will recognize X1in the novelty, but the mind will persist in thinking that it is X3 or even X5. And it is all because the restyling model really looks like a crossover.

From the outside perspective, the new BMW X1 does not differ much from the old one. It has the same length of the hood and the same straight roof. A smoothly going up line under the window also survived, as well as the rib along the entire length of the body. In the wheel arches, out of the habit of the bloated ones, it is easy to fit 225/50 R17 and 225/45 R18 (optional) discs. By the way, now you can even optionally install light-alloy 19-inch wheels. The changes are greater in the back. The bumper has been seriously changed, and the lighting equipment has become more stylish and more expensive.

The car dimensions are preserved. As before the restyling, they are as follows: 14,61 ft. in length, 5,9 ft. in width, 5,07 ft. in height, the wheelbase is 9,06 ft., and the ground clearance is 0,64 ft. But this is the data the manufacturer claims. It is interesting that the X1 owners indicate a different clearance size - 0,59 ft., by the way, also a good indicator.

It seems that having thought up the restyling, the Bavarians set out the task to renew the appearance of the car, wishing to give it more solid features and to distinguish it among other representatives of the class. In general, they succeeded. But the designers decided not to torture themselves over the interior - they just duplicated the previous model.

Of course, there are some changes in the interior of the BMW X1, but they are very insignificant and invisible at first sight. Does it really matter? If the interior is pulled out of the restyling model, then it means only one thing: still the highest quality of finishing and materials, and, of course, the German practicality in everything. The location of all controls is carefully thought out. The driver will appreciate how informative and detailed all systems can be. And there are plenty of them in the car - there is a plenty of electronic, information and entertainment systems designed to make the life of the driver and passengers as comfortable as possible. But… Most multimedia joys are only available as options, and they are very expensive.

To understand how comfortable the seats are (all seats), it is enough to just sit down in them. Who said that the Germans do not like comfort? Moreover, the seats can be regulated in different directions. And if you buy sports seats, then they will fix you, like you are their own.

It is true that the salon is only for four people. Of course, the fifth passenger can accommodate, but on the rise in the center of the rear row, it will not be very convenient. But the trunk for the cars of this class is excellent: in the five-seat variant, it is 360 - 480 liters (the volume can be changed due to the inclination of the rear backrests independent of each other), in a double one - 1350 liters.

Purchasing the standard equipment, you can count on the presence of an air conditioner, eight airbags, a leather steering wheel, an onboard computer and many technical systems (traction control, stability, braking, stop-start system).

For the restyling version, both petrol and diesel engines are available. Power ratings of the gasoline engines vary from 150 to 250 hp. Motor versions sDrive 20d and xDrive 20d are supplied with a diesel engine of 184 hp. The engine marked xDrive25d has a potential of 218 "horses". In addition, the line has diesel engines of 116 and 145 hp. In general, there is a lot of variants to choose from.

As many people note, even on technical equipment, the new BMW X1 is similar to the previous X3, and the exterior is much like that of Infiniti. In BMW Company believe that this is a plus, and they set out a goal to attract a more respectable audience, who like bigger cars with a sporty note. All this is present in the new X1. X3 was intended as a family car, the new X1 has a slightly different audience.
