BMW X5 2018

The BMW X5 4th generation (BMW X5 G05) is officially presented on June 5, 2018, but is still online. The world premiere of the German BMW X-5 premium crossover of the fourth generation is scheduled as part of the Paris Motor Show in autumn 2018.

New body design

Despite the high sales figures of the X5 (more than 2.2 million cars of the 3rd generation sold), the engineers of the Bavarian company were not afraid to carry out a radical reform of the model. The transformation began from the very basics – a new modular CLAR platform replaced the old "cart". When switching to another base, the SUV has seriously enlarged, adding 42 mm in the size of the wheelbase, 36 mm in length and as much as 66 mm in the width of the body. At the same time, the overall height was reduced by 17 mm. As a result, the external dimensions of the BMW X5 of the new model turned out to be as follows: 4922x2004x1745 mm with an axial distance of 2975 mm. Taking into account the size and premium status of the "Bavarian", it is not difficult to establish its main competitors - the Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Volkswagen Touareg.

The appearance of the X5 is brought into line with the stylistic line traced in the design of all the latest BMW SUV class novelties. The front part of the body of the new generation model is distinguished by a solid radiator grille with branded "nostrils" merged into a single block, upgraded headlamps with hexagonal sections of running lights and x-shaped blue elements inside these sections, a more powerful and expressive bumper with impressive air intakes, a hood with a bright and aggressive relief of ribs. The front optics is LED by default, but if this is not enough, then adaptive Laserlight lighting units with increased range with laser high beam are offered as an option.

The stern of the new BMW X5, after correction, flaunts new LED lights of BMW X4, a very large rectangular luggage compartment door, a compact and neat bumper with powerful exhaust pipes located on the sides.

In general, X5 in its new incarnation looks much more fresh, stylish and modern than its predecessor. It is not superfluous to note that in addition to a wide range of alloy wheels of size 18-22, the buyer will have the opportunity to choose between two additional packages of exterior decor. The M Sport version assumes a bias towards active driving and urban operation – such cars can be recognized by the body-colored wheel arches, thresholds and bumpers, as well as the glossy black design of a number of body parts (including side glazing frames and roof rails). The off-road version of the xLine is endowed with elements with a matte aluminum finish and mother-of-pearl chrome.

BMW X5 Interior

As for the "filling", then the candy did not disappoint - in addition to the interesting appearance, the BMW X5 boasts motorists and a decent interior. It is worth starting with the fact that the model has received a completely new interior and, to a greater extent, improved equipment.

But not only does the interior of the car cling to its practicality – the thoughtfulness, functionality and convenience of the interior were the result of the joint fruitful work of engineers and designers.

Mainly, the front panel is worth to be highlighted, on which a convenient dashboard is located, working with a large touchscreen display.

The three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with a large number of buttons and a pair of joysticks will be an excellent assistant to the driver while driving – it will allow you to get quick access to all the necessary options without distracting from the road. The main display is slightly turned towards the driver, and under it there is a pair of horizontal air deflectors.

Below, there are a couple of rows of buttons that allow you to control the functionality of the car. There are also a completely new multimedia system, push-button engine start, illumination of various interior elements, comfortable seats for the driver and front passenger – heating, ventilation and multiple massage modes. The interior received a leather finish and high-quality materials for the remaining elements.

As mentioned above, the new BMW X5 body is larger than its counterparts in previous generations. In the version of the 2019 model year, it received the following parameters:

length: 4923 mm;

width: 2005 mm;

height: 1746 mm;

the length of the wheelbase: 2976 mm.

The new model will be equipped with wheels with a large variation in size - from 18 to 22 inches.
