CES - 2019: time to be surprised
Every year the Consumer Technology Association Exhibition shows more and more interesting developments from the automotive sector. Nowadays they can be rejected, but one day some of them will become commonplace.
This year exhibition of Consumer Technology Association (CES) has presented a big surprise. It has presented the serial car - the second generation of Mercedes CLA. The concept cars have been seen by the Las Vegas halls in past years, but a stock car has driven onto the podium for the first time.
After a time lost in traffic jams, any motorist dreams of sliding "legs" that would allow occupying the "second floor" of the road. And Hyundai fulfilled this wish with the help of the conceptual Elevate model. However, representatives of the brand say that the model is more suitable for conquering off-roads than for the lane splitting, which is usually used by motorcyclists.
It is assumed that the vehicle will become a life raft in the event of a tsunami, flood or forest fire. This device will be able to independently take the owner out of the risk zone or get to the victims faster than the rescuers will do on the traditional technique. Elevate can climb the slopes, climb stairs, step over cracks. Each of the wheels is equipped with its own drive and a movable mechanism that allows them to unfold independently of each other by 360 degrees.

Continental was noted with an interesting model. This brand is mainly associated with tires, but the concern is one of the world's largest developers and manufacturers of automotive components. The company brought to Las Vegas a replacement to the usual couriers - mechanical dogs.
Moreover, the developers of the company are confident that it is the future of a cargo delivery concept. Everything goes to the fact that in a few years only UAVs will deliver the goods. But the question arises what to do when the car arrives at the right address: most often the client is waiting for delivery to the apartment or workplace. And here, robots that look like four-legged human friends will come in handy. Small “suitcases” on the four iron legs can easily reach the customer, not a single staircase will stop them.
But not all manufacturers plan to isolate drivers from driving their own car. Some, on the contrary, are engaged in the development of electronic assistants facilitating this process. For example, Harman engineers made a system that allows the driver and passengers to communicate seamlessly, even in a huge SUV or a minivan with three rows of seats. At the same time making music quieter is not necessary.
The novelty is called Premium Communications, and it represents a set of built-in microphones with active noise cancellation and audio signal processing sensors. Representatives of the company themselves say that the novelty allows you to communicate without raising your voice, and “to hear what you need, but not to hear too much.”
The development of the company Anker called Royal Bolt also allows the motorist not to be distracted from driving. In fact, this is Google's voice assistant, working from a cigarette lighter and able to work with any modern car. Nevertheless, for correct operation it also requires a smartphone on Android, able to connect to the car. The connected assistant allows you to control many vehicle functions with voice commands. For example, to change the volume of music, to search for your favorite songs, to operate the navigator and much more. Royal Bolt will cost about $50.
Often it is not easy for car drivers to notice compact and maneuverable motorcycles on the road. Therefore, several vehicle and advanced electronics manufacturers decided to unite and create a new security system - C-V2X. Specialists of Ducati, Audi, Ford and Qualcomm worked over its creation.
Electronics using the built-in wireless modem connects to the cellular network and begins to "communicate" with other electronic devices and infrastructure. The system allows you to ensure the safety of all road users, as the driver in advance receives warnings about possible dangers on the road. For example, if a motorcyclist is around the corner or a pedestrian suddenly comes out from behind a parked car.
Another interesting development comes from Europe - a trailer created by BMW and the famous manufacturer of clothing and accessories for hiking The North Face. The device can be used not only for the transportation of cargo on a trip, but also as a sleeping place for several people. Inside there is a large shelf that can be used as a separate bed, and even several small shelves. For sleeping being more comfortable, there are a couple of windows.

The tent itself is made of an innovative material that is able to repel water from the outside and from the inside, preventing the formation of condensate. At the same time it "breathes" providing airing. The skeleton of the model is made of carbon fiber, and due to airless tires it is great for conquering the off-road.
Judging by the size of the camper, it is more suitable for working in tandem with a two-wheeled vehicle. For example, with the BMW R1250GS, equipped with autopilot, which also debuted at CES. The motorcycle can take off, pick up speed, turn in the slope and brake until it stops completely. And if the electronics understands that you need to park, the bike will independently reorganize to the right and will press against the curb.
Even the Americans from Harley-Davidson were able to surprise the brutal bikers. Brand management promised to actively engage in a line of ozone-friendly motorcycles. And in Vegas, not only the serial LifeWire for $ 30,000 was presented, but also the electric “kids”: a scooter and a moped, which had not yet received even a name. Their characteristics are also not mentioned.
