Chevrolet Equinox 2018. Review
Let’s talk about the appearance of Chevrolet Equinox 2018, its interior, and security system!
In the first quarter of 2017, sales of the third generation of the Chevrolet Equinox compact crossover started in America, the official debut of which was made in September 2016.
In comparison with the previous second generation of the crossover, the novelty received dramatic changes in appearance, a more stylish and modern interior, as well as a completely new technical stuffing. In addition, the new Chevrolet Equinox has become noticeably smaller and lighter than its predecessor, which makes it possible to rely on the more impressive dynamic and economic characteristics of the crossover.
When creating the new Equinox, the manufacturer decided to abandon the 3.6-liter 301-horsepower gasoline engine V6, leaving only four-cylinder engines in the line of power units.
Exterior of Chevrolet Equinox 2018
The first thing that catches your eye when looking at the new Chevrolet Equinox is the fore body, which received a number of dramatic changes in comparison with the previous generation of the crossover so that the car is now made in the same style with the latest generations of the Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Malibu.
The fore body of the car received a more advanced and stylish headlight optics with a different hood shape, a huge two-section grille and a muscular front bumper with an impressive air intake and originally designed front fog lights.
The crossover profile has also changed, with less muscular wheel arches, a different window line, as well as heavily littered rear pillars, making the car a little more dynamic.
Also, there were changes in the fillet part of the car body, where new horizontal ceiling lights were installed (previously vertical) and the rear bumper was turned. At the same time, impressive and almost rectangular luggage compartment doors were left in place to facilitate unloading and loading of luggage, as well as a neat rear spoiler with an integrated additional brake light.
As noted earlier, the external dimensions have decreased markedly and now represent:
• Length - 15,26 ft;
• Width – 6,05 ft;
• Height – 5,45 ft.
Interior of Chevrolet Equinox 2018
The saloon of the new Chevrolet Equinox meets with a completely new front dashboard architecture, most of the elements of which were borrowed from the Chevrolet Maibu.
The driver's seat has received a new, more stylish and modern three-spoke steering wheel, as well as a completely redesigned dashboard, represented by several analogue indicators and LCD display of the trip computer.
In the central part of the dashboard, the manufacturer placed the MyLink multimedia center that supports synchronization with smartphones based on iOS and Android, as well as a 7 or 8-inch touchscreen display.
Right under the multimedia system is a stylish and intuitive climate control panel, which even a child can easily cope with.
The front seats provide a comfortable fit for people of various sizes and have a wide range of adjustments and well-felt lateral support. Between the seats, there is an impressive size central tunnel, where there is a pair of cup holders, an electronic parking brake button, a gearshift lever and a massive central armrest, which has a spacious box for various small things.
The volume of the trunk is 846 liters, and by folding the back of the back sofa (form a flat floor), the user can count on an impressive 1798 liters. In the underground luggage compartment, there was a place for a spare wheel and the necessary tools, which can also be attributed to the number of advantages of the car.
Safety of the new Chevrolet Equinox 2018
Chevrolet Equinox is equipped with a sufficient number of electronic assistants and security systems, including:
■ StabiliTrak electronic stabilization system;
■ LED daytime running lights;
■ Lateral and frontal, as well as auxiliary airbags for the head;
■ Sensors monitoring the level of pressure in the tires;
■ Sensors for tracking “dead zones” and movement in the rear transverse path;
■ Back-up cameras;
■ Children's locks in the rear doors;
■ Parking aid;
■ Cruise control with the ability to limit the maximum speed;
■ Frontal collision avoidance system;
■ Road marking tracking system;
■ Belts with three-zone fixation;
■ Disc brakes on the front and rear axles.
The manufacturer emphasizes that when creating the car, they used more durable steel grades, which, together with reduced dimensions, allowed to a significant increase of the rigidity of the body - this had a positive effect not only on safety but also on car handling at high speeds.
