Chrysler 300C – the second generation of the model

No one limits themselves to the size of the vehicle In the USA. "Take a good five meters of sheet metal" – with these words begins the guide to the production of one of the most original cars in America - Chrysler 300C.

The large sedan is 16,5 ft. long and weighs 3825 lbs.  Under the hood, there is no room for other engines except V6 or V8.

The history of the model

In the early 90's Chrysler in the E segment performed with the model Eagle Vision, which at the end of the decade was replaced by 300M, and in 2003 the Americans presented 300C. For reasons of economy, the car was developed on the basis of already not young Mercedes E-Class W210 (1996-2002). Nevertheless, Chrysler also managed to grab some components from the more modern E W211 - for example, 3-liter turbodiesel.

Then in the European salons, the diesel version with 3.0 CRDi engine with the power of 218 hp appeared. Great hopes were placed in it. However, cooperation with Mercedes was not successful. Perhaps the Chrysler 300C could become even more luxurious and better than the E-class, but the Germans could not allow it.

2014 - the second generation of the model

Bright, with charismatic look Chrysler 300C 2014 model is simply bound to attract the attention. This is quite understandable because the Chrysler 300C 2014 was a success: the creators managed to harmoniously combine new, original design elements with the corporate appearance inherent in all models of the company.

What is so attractive in the look of the second generation sedan?

•    First of all, we should highlight the impressive size and weight characteristics of Chrysler 300C 2014: the length is 16, 5 ft., the width – 6, 2 ft.

•    The height indicators vary from 4,8 ft. to 5,12 ft. due to the presence of a rather exotic system, which is responsible for supporting the constant rate of the clearance, depending on the current weight of the car.

•    Wheelbase length is 10 ft., with 5, 29 ft. front track, 5, 32 ft. rear and 0. 46 ft. of clearance.

•    The mass in running order is 3946 lbs., while maximum weight (with a driver, luggage, and 4 passengers), is 5200 lbs. 2407,45 lbs. of them are on the front wheels, 2793,26 lbs. – on the rear ones.

The exterior is intriguing by the powerful shape - long hood, low roof, powerful stand, compact windows and an impressive stern. It seems that the design of this model was seriously worked through by the best representatives of the Italian industry, who has excellent skills in working with luxury cars. It is quite understandable and logical decision since Chrysler belongs to the Fiat concern, which has high hopes for its American stepson. An indirect confirmation of this is the Lancia Thema, almost full analog of the Chrysler 300C, slightly modified to adapt to the European market.

In the front part of the sedan, a special place is given to bi-xenon headlights, equipped with Smart Beam, the original form of the grille, and a massive bumper with a barely noticeable slot of the air intake. The light points (headlight washers and fog lights) elegantly emphasize the solidity of these elements.

The stern of the sedan is made without the presence sharp elements, but it still looks very attractive and original: a large bumper, with the exhaust pipes looking out from under it; smooth outlines of the trunk lid with a stamped spoiler; stylish contours of marker lights.

The profile view of the car is amazing: all the elements are planned and made incredibly original and harmonious, perfectly complementing each other. The elegant simplicity of the hood, doorways, and stylishly enlarged wheel arches, able to comfortably accommodate huge 20-inch alloy wheels deserve special praise.

Technical characteristics

The technical characteristics of the 2nd generation of 300C are of excellent quality and innovative. Now the deeply modernized LX is used as the base: sedan equipped with a body characterized by the increased rigidity, new shock absorbers, modified suspension settings and attachment points to the body of the subframe and chassis. However, the main pride of the upgraded LX platform is considered to be a high-quality independent suspension. Today the vast majority of Chrysler models use new German developments. This is especially true of brakes and power steering systems.
