Do you love optical illusions? Few people identify the crossover here. However, the diameter of the wheels on the car in the photo is 20 inches, and the length, width and height are 4635, 1890 and 1605 mm with a wheelbase of 3000 mm. For example, Nissan X-Trail is 4690, 1820, 1715 and 2705 mm respectively.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric car is one of those examples when almost everything is known about the car even before the official premiere. In addition, this is the case when a production car is more interesting than a prototype. The novelty is based on the Hyundai 45 concept and became the firstborn of the newly organized Ioniq division. The latter will be used by the South Korean concern to promote electric vehicles. While they are afraid to let the new sub-brand float freely, there are Hyundai nameplates on the car. However, if all goes well, the branch will get rid of support - just like Genesis did in its time.

On February 23, 2021 Hyundai Motor Company held the global online premiere of the new Ioniq 5 mid-size crossover SUV. The first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model of Hyundai's recently introduced sub-brand sets new standards for electric transportation and the lifestyle associated with it, with innovative and environmentally friendly solutions.

The Ioniq 5 is built on the E-GMP global electric modular platform, specially developed by Hyundai Motor Group for battery electric vehicles, which combines unique body proportions with an extended wheelbase. Thanks to it, Ioniq 5 features an innovative interior design with many elements of which use environmentally friendly materials, high-power propulsion systems, the ability to use ultra-fast charging and power sharing (V2L), as well as advanced mobile device connectivity and electronic driver assistance systems. All this guarantees an unforgettable driving experience and the highest level of safety.

The five-door is assembled on a modular platform E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform). In the base, as usual for such architectures, an electric motor is offered on the rear axle, but all wheels will be supplied with traction for an extra charge. There are four versions so far. The Standard Range is a 58kWh battery and a 170hp (350Nm) engine. The all-wheel drive version boasts 235 forces (350 N•m). The Long Range type has a 72.6 kWh battery. The rear electric motor produces 218 hp (350 N•m), and the all-wheel drive modification develops 306 hp (605 N•m). This model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and has a top speed of 185 km/h.

Inside, there is a duo of 12-inch screens. The projection display supports augmented reality technology. The front seats can be transformed to create a "weightlessness effect". The materials for the interior were processed products, including from plastic bottles. The back row moves within 135 mm. A household outlet produces up to 3.6 kW. A solar panel can be integrated into the panoramic roof. Trunk volume - from 531 to 1591 liters. The compartment in front is 57 liters for the mono-drive version and 24 for the version with a drive on both axles.

A "cart" with an obscenely long wheelbase (just like a Toyota Alphard van) won a lot of free space inside. The effect is enhanced by a 140 mm movable cupholder cupboard that replaces a conventional console, a transmission selector on the steering column and a perfectly flat floor. The equipment includes a second-level autopilot with advanced cruise control and a lane keeping function. In 2022, the company promises to introduce the Ioniq 6 sedan.
