Fisker Ocean 2023 electric crossover
The premiere of the new electric crossover Fisker Ocean 2023 took place in the United States. The range is more than 700 km. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds. Price from 37,500 US dollars.
On Manhattan Beach in New York, Fisker, founded by automotive designer Henrik Fisker, unveiled the Fisker Ocean electric crossover. Fisker once worked at Tesla. He helped to develop Model S prototypes.
It is known that the American company organized the production of crossovers in Austria at the Magna plant in Graz. And now new details about the new Fisker Ocean. The car will enter the elite segment of electric vehicles, becoming a competitor to cars such as the Tesla Model and BMW X. Compared to more well-known competitors, crossovers are distinguished by a high level of quality, comfort and safety. According to the developers, the car is able to cope with various weather conditions, including snow drifts and ice. It has torque vectoring all-wheel drive that gives it all-wheel drive. An electric crossover can surprise you with its capabilities.
Despite this, Henrik Fisker claims that the car has the longest range in the world and a towing force of up to 1.8 tons. According to the company's owner, he plans to make electric cars more affordable for buyers. The company's marketing strategy uses a flexible rental program, in which the client decides how long he or she wants to own the Ocean - one month, six months or three years. The manufacturer also offered to buy the car and sell it at the market price.
The new product is built on a modular “skateboard platform” developed by Magna Steyr (Austria). Front – MacPherson strut suspension, rear one is multi-link.
The length is 4775 mm, the width is 1995 mm, the wheelbase is 2921 mm, and the height, depending on the version, is 1629–1631 mm.
Inside the car, you can find a 17.1-inch rotating display manufactured by Foxconn, supporting landscape and portrait modes.
Technical characteristics
The Ocean electric crossover will be supplied to the market in four modifications and 14 colors. The basic modification of the Fisker Ocean Sport has front-wheel drive and is equipped with a 278-horsepower electric motor. The declared autonomy of the car is 440 km.
The power of the Ultra and Extreme all-wheel drive versions will be 548 and 558 hp. Accordingly, reaching the first hundred will take 4.2 and 3.9 seconds, and the power reserve reaches 610 and 630 km. The base front-wheel drive version is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL. Top configurations received a lithium-ion battery of the NMC type (nickel-manganese-cobalt cathode).
Fisker said the Fisker Ocean crossover, which competes with the Tesla Model Y, has an official WLTP range of 707 km, the best of any electric crossover available in Europe.
This range applies to the 550 hp Ocean Extreme model. Fisker did not provide WLTP range figures for the 279-hp Sport model and mid-range models with 548 hp Ultra all-wheel drive. However, at the time of the announcement it was said that they would be about 443 and 610 km, respectively.
The longest-range battery-powered crossover in Europe before the Ocean was the BMW iX xDrive50, whose 111.5 kWh battery allowed it to travel 612 km without recharging. Ocean beats it by as much as 95 km.
The single-engine rear-wheel drive Ford Mach-E provides a WLTP range of 610 km. Other electric crossovers, including the Tesla Model Y, are rated at less than 560 km.
