In 2018, the Mazda 6 came with new Sport and Touring with a 2.5-liter engine designed for perfectly acceptable 187 horsepower. A noticeable lag at low speeds and a 6-speed automatic transmission complement the soft feeling of a car driving. A 6-speed transmission is standard on the Mazda 6 Sport. The car boasts a balanced chassis. Its steering is more stable and sociable than that the most midsize sedans have. 

Among the other updates of the improved Mazda 6 are its redesigned seats, which are comfortable, if not truly luxurious. A particularly high level of standard active safety technology is delivered under its stubborn appearance. 2018 Mazda 6 has proven itself to be safe. All models, except the base of the Mazda 6 Sport, include low-speed automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and warning about leaving the lane. New generation of Mazda 6 received high marks from both the federal and independent experts.

Mazda 6 2018 Interior

The Mazda 6 is impressive inside. The controls are mainly grouped under the ventilation holes for climate control. Located on the dashboard 8.0-inch screen is controlled by a console with a few buttons.

Interior trim is made of synthetic leather in Touring and Grand Touring, and from genuine leather in the Grand Touring Reserve. Salon allows the presence of 4 passengers in it. However, the rear seat passengers in Touring have the additional advantage of a pair of USB ports hidden in the armrest. A wide trunk can carry up to 133 liters of cargo space. The rear seats fold, but there are no levers inside the cabin (for this you need to open the trunk). The interior is clean, minimalistic and sophisticated, like the exterior.

Technical characteristics of the Mazda 6 2018

The main result of the restyling in the technical part was the inclusion of the new Skyactiv-G 2.5T gasoline turbine unit, previously registered under the hood of the CX-9 crossover, in the Mazda 6 engine range. Maximum engine efficiency when operating on high quality gasoline reaches 254 hp. and 420 Nm.

Another engine, inherited by the new “six” from the pre-reform machine, was upgraded. "Atmospheric" Skyactiv-G 2.5 has learned to deactivate half of the cylinders in the speed range 40-80 km/h. The output parameters remained the same - 192 hp and 256 Nm. Motor Skyactiv-G 2.5 is combined with either the "mechanics" or the "automatics".

In addition to the above engines, the new Mazda 6, depending on the market, has in its arsenal three more power units:

Skyactiv-G 2.0 165 hp, 210 Nm;

Skyactiv-D 2.2 150 hp 380 Nm;

Skyactiv-D 2.2 175 hp 420 Nm.

The suspension of the Japanese sedan during the upgrade has acquired other settings. The general geometry, fastenings of back longitudinal levers and rigidity of springs with shock-absorbers underwent revision. The steering mechanism is now attached to the subframe.

Last year, the Mazda 6 received a new feature called the G-Vectoring Control as standard, which significantly changes the weight of the car to the front tires, reducing the engine torque when entering a turn, which makes the steering more responsive.

Mazda modified the suspension to improve driving quality and did a good job at soundproofing of the Mazda 6. The Mazda 6 2018 received a reinforced body and thicker metal in the rear wheel arches. The suspension has also been revised for smoother ride quality and a higher level of control. The steering rack has been rigidly mounted for better response in handling, while the suspension geometry has been adjusted.
