Mercedes-AMG Company always surprises its customers. All models are famous for their quality and reliability, though now we would like to attract your attention to the most prominent modern representatives of the company: MERCEDES AMG GT R and MERCEDES-AMG G 63.
MERCEDES AMG GT R
The Mercedes-AMG Company officially introduced a new sports model AMG GT R which surpassed the predecessor AMG GT S and was a continuation of the evolution of the Mercedes sports line.
The car belongs to a classic coupe line. The main difference from other representatives of the GT family is the proprietary matte Green Hell coloration. We can see the original radiator grille made of 15 vertical lines, which was put on the famous sports car in 1952 - Mercedes-Benz Panamericana. AMG GT R is wider than the AMG GT S due to the aerodynamic body kit, the diffusers increased and an aerodynamic splitter appeared. The front wings and the roof are made of carbon fiber, and the exhaust system is made of titanium. In addition, there is the possibility of ceramic brakes installing.
MERCEDES AMG GT R interior
The interior of the car is practically the same as of its predecessor. Standard equipment includes AMG sport buckets with manual adjustment and microfiber leather trim with a yellow stitch, which can be seen even on the steering wheel, door trim and central tunnel. As an option, safety belts and a dial of yellow color and carbon inserts in the interior elements are offered. The whole interior of the car can be described as sport aggression. However, the engineers took care of the comfort: the AMG GT R has a multimedia and a climate control systems, as well as various security systems.
TECHNICAL NOVELTY OF MERCEDES AMG GT R
The car is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine with a power output of 585 hp, which is 75 hp. more than the AMG GT S. There is an automatic 7-speed transmission with a double clutch. Manufacturers equipped the AMG GT R with a system of turning rear wheels. The rear wheels are turned in the direction of the reverse rotation of the front wheels at the speeds up to 62 mph, and even at speeds above 62 mph the rear wheels are rotated together with the front ones synchronously. All this provides excellent controllability.
The car is sold in the US and Canada from November 21, 2016. The car price in Germany starts from 165 000 euros.
MERCEDES-AMG G63 - NEW GENERATION OF GELENDWAGEN
The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 is officially presented at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2018. ‘Gelendwagen’ is equipped with a 582 hp. 4.0 V8 biturbo motor, which provides a German SUV with a body weight of 5478 ft. with a phenomenal dynamics of acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds. The new Mercedes AM G 63 officially goes on sale this year at a price of not less than 160,000 euros.
TECHNICAL NOVELTY OF MERCEDES AMG G 63
Under the hood of the G 63 SUV there is the same engine as in the engine compartment of G 500. This is a petrol 4.0 liter V8 biturbo but with a higher power of 585 hp. and, understandably, a large maximum torque of 850 Nm. The engine is additionally equipped with a cylinder deactivation system (AMG Cylinder Management), which disconnects 2, 3, 5 and 8 cylinders at low loads. According to the manufacturer, this system helps to ensure fuel consumption at a level of 13.2 liters in a combined mode of motion. There is a new 9-speed transmission - AMG Speedshift TCT 9G.
The motor and gearbox give a heavy SUV with a loaded mass of 5478 ft. the acceleration dynamics of a sports car. However, the optional ‘AMG Driver's Package’ allows you to loosen the electronic collar and reach 150 mph driving the new Mercedes-AMG G 63.
There is the AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive transmission in the arsenal of the high-speed Gelendwagen. It also has the AMG Ride Control adaptive shock absorbers and the optional Sport Plus driving mode besides standard Comfort, Sport, Eco, Individual, and G-Modes.
THE INTERIOR OF MERCEDES AMG G 63
The salon of the new Mercedes-AMG G 63 almost completely replicates the interior of the Mercedes-Benz G 500. The manufacturers use the original AMG sports steering multifunction Nappa trimmed steering wheel, as well as multi-circuit driver and front passenger seats (automatic adjustment of the side support rollers and the lumbar support, the memory of the settings, heating, ventilation, and massage functions). There are 12.3-inch color multifunction displays, three-zone climate control, premium Burmester sound system and high-quality materials - genuine leather, Alcantara and Nappa, aluminum and carbon.
These models have recently been presented at the exhibition in Miami.
