The new Cadillac CT5 sedan came to replace three models at once

At the New York Auto Show in 2019, the premiere of the new Cadillac CT5 model took place, which for some reason is called a compact premium sedan in the company itself, although the car is comparable in size to E-class cars. In the manufacturer's lineup, the novelty has replaced three models at once: ATS, CTS and XTS.

The new Cadillac CT5 2023 has a strict exterior design in the style of CT6-V and XT6. The "muzzle" of the four-door is remembered by the LED "fangs" of the head optics, the shield-shaped radiator grille and the muscular hood. The car received a sloping roof, a neat spoiler on the trunk lid and vertical LED lights.

It is noteworthy that the new Cadillac CT5 body is not even a sedan, but rather a fastback, where the rear window smoothly passes into the trunk lid without changing the angle of inclination, and the latter is equipped with an integrated spoiler.

Exterior and interior

The Luxury and Premium versions flaunt chrome on the exterior, while the Sport variant has dark accents, a different mesh grille and original 19-inch wheels.

Inside, the 2023 Cadillac CT5 meets with expensive trim materials and a rich level of equipment. The standard equipment of the model includes a multimedia system with a 10.0-inch touch screen on the center console, a massage function in the front seats, an image output from the rear view camera to the interior mirror, a contactless trunk opening and even an air ionizer.

The driver has a fashionable multifunctional steering wheel and a classic instrument panel with round speedometer and tachometer wells, as well as a large color screen of the on-board computer between them.

The decoration uses leather, on the front panel and dashboard, there are inserts for carbon fiber or wood. For a surcharge, a premium Bose Performance audio system with active noise cancellation is offered.

Specifications

The new 2023 Cadillac CT5 is built on an upgraded Alpha platform with a longitudinal engine and primary rear-wheel drive (all-wheel drive is offered as an option). McPherson struts are used in the front, and a multi-link suspension is used in the rear, the electric power steering is located on the rail.

The overall length of the car is 4924 mm, the wheelbase is 2,947, the width is 1,883, and the height is 1,452. Thus, the length of the Citi 5 is comparable to the “five” BMW, and the distance between its axles exceeds that of the Audi A6. The volume of the fastback trunk is not called.

The base engine for the Cadillac CT5 is a 2.0-liter Twin-Scroll turbo four with 241 hp. and 350 Nm of torque. An alternative to it is a turbocharged V6 with a displacement of 3.0 liters, which produces 340 “horses” and 400 Nm.

Both are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, but performance has not been revealed. The control electronics has four operating modes: "Tour", "Sport", "Snow/Ice" and "My Mode".

Switching between them changes the settings for power steering, brakes, transmission operation, throttle response and exhaust volume. The latter option involves the ability to program individual settings for different auto systems.

Also for the Cadillac CT5, there are many different electronic assistants, including the "Super Cruise" autopilot function, which allows the electronics to completely take control of the car.

Nevertheless, it does not work everywhere, but it is reported that in the States there are more than 200 thousand kilometers of tracks where the system can be active. But if you don’t touch the steering wheel and pedals while driving on autopilot, then the driver is obliged to look at the road - a special camera monitors this.
