The new Cadillac CT5 sedan replaced three models at once

At the New York Auto Show in 2019, the premiere of the new Cadillac CT5 model took place. The company itself for some reason calls this car a compact premium sedan, although the size of the car is comparable to E-class cars. In the manufacturer’s line, the new product replaces three models at once: ATS, CTS and XTS.

Exterior and interior

The new Cadillac CT5 2023 has a strict exterior design in the style of the CT6-V and XT6. The “face” of the four-door is memorable with LED “fangs” of head optics, a shield-shaped radiator grille and a muscular hood. The car received a sloping roof, a neat spoiler on the trunk lid and vertical LED lights.

 It is noteworthy that the new Cadillac ST5 body is not even a sedan, but rather a fastback, where the rear window smoothly merges into the trunk lid without changing the angle, and the latter is equipped with an integrated spoiler.

The Luxury and Premium versions flaunt the presence of chrome in the exterior design, while the Sport version has dark accents, a different mesh in the radiator grille and 19-inch wheels of the original design.

Inside, the 2023 Cadillac CT5 greets you with expensive finishing materials and a rich level of equipment. Standard equipment of the model includes a multimedia system with a 10.0-inch touch screen on the center console, a massage function in the front seats, displaying images from the rear view camera on the interior mirror, contactless trunk opening and even an air ionizer.

The driver has a fashionable multifunctional steering wheel and a classic instrument panel with round wells for the speedometer and tachometer, as well as a large color on-board computer screen between them.

The decoration uses leather (in the top version with perforations), and on the front panel and dashboard there are carbon fiber or wood inserts. For an additional fee, a premium Bose Performance audio system with active noise cancellation is offered.

Specifications

The new 2023 Cadillac ST5 is built on an upgraded Alpha platform with a longitudinal engine and main rear-wheel drive (all-wheel drive is offered as an option). It uses McPherson struts at the front, and a multi-link suspension at the rear; the electric power steering is mounted on a rack.

The overall length of the car is 4,924 mm, the wheelbase is 2,947 mm, the width is 1,883 mm, and the height is 1,452 mm. Thus, in terms of its length, the CiTi 5 is comparable to the BMW “five,” and the distance between its axles exceeds that of the Audi A6.

The base engine for the Cadillac CT5 is a 2.0-liter Twin-Scroll petrol turbo-four with 241 hp. and 350 Nm of torque. An alternative to it is a turbocharged V6 with a displacement of 3.0 liters, which produces 340 “horses” and 400 Nm.

Both are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The control electronics have four operating modes: “Tour”, “Sport”, “Snow/Ice” and “My Mode”.

Switching between them changes the power steering, brakes, transmission, throttle response and exhaust volume. The latter option involves the ability to program individual settings for different car systems.

Also, the Cadillac CT5 has many different electronic assistants, including the “Super Cruise” autopilot function, which allows the electronics to completely take over control of the car.

Nevertheless, it does not work everywhere, but it is reported that in the United States there are more than 200 thousand kilometers of highways where the system can be active. But if you don’t have to touch the steering wheel and pedals when driving on autopilot, then the driver must look at the road - a special camera monitors this.
