New Nissan Juke Hybrid with Renault Power Plant

It would seem that Nissan has its own hybrid e-Power system, which is installed on many models for different markets. This power plant operates in sequential mode: the wheels are rotated by an electric motor, and the gasoline engine operates exclusively in generator mode to recharge the buffer battery. But the Nissan Juke crossover did not get such a system. These cars are now produced only in the UK and are sold mainly on the European market, so in the name of local unification, the new Juke Hybrid has acquired a Renault power plant.
We are talking about the E-Tech system, which debuted two years ago and is now used on several Renault models, although Nissan did not use this name. Moreover, Juke got the simplest version of the hybrid system: the closest technical relative was not even the Renault Captur E-Tech SUV, but the Clio E-Tech hatchback.
An atmospheric 1.6 (94 hp, 148 Nm) is installed under the hood, to which a three-shaft gearbox without synchronizers and clutch is docked. The gears are switched by cam clutches, while possible jerks are smoothed out by electronics, which coordinates the rotation speeds of the crankshaft of the gasoline engine and the traction electric motor installed after the gearbox (49 hp, 205 Nm). The drive is on the front wheels.
Such a hybrid can only be started on electric traction: the operation of the gasoline engine at idle is excluded, it can be connected after the start of movement. The gearbox has two stages for an electric motor and four for a gasoline engine. According to the idea, this design allows you to reduce losses and reduce fuel consumption. Finally, there is a starter generator (20 hp), which can also help the gasoline engine by "twisting" the crankshaft.
The Nissan Juke Hybrid has a modest traction battery with a capacity of 1.2 kWh. It is installed under the trunk floor, which is why the volume of the compartment itself has been reduced from 422 liters in the gasoline version to 354 liters. Charging the battery from the outlet is not provided. Nevertheless, in purely electric mode, such a hybrid can accelerate up to 55 km/h.
The e-Pedal mode is provided, in which acceleration and braking control is assigned only to the accelerator pedal. Regenerative deceleration to 0.15g is carried out to a speed of about 5 km/h, after which the standard brakes are activated. The developers promise that the Juke Hybrid can move 80% of the time only by electric traction in the city: the battery is recharged not only from the internal combustion engine, but also by recuperation during frequent braking. The average fuel consumption is 5.2 liters /100 km, and this is 20% less than that of a gasoline Juke.
From the outside, the hybrid version differs from the gasoline ones with a new radiator grille. The corporate drawing in the form of the letter V has been changed, the air intake area has been reduced, and automatic blinds have been installed in front of the radiator, which open only if necessary. The flaps and pads under the bottom and in front of the wheels have been revised, the spoiler on the fifth door has been increased: all to reduce aerodynamic drag, although the Cd value is not named. Finally, there are new wheels with a diameter of 19 (like the Nissan Ariya electric car) and 17 inches.
There are no images of the interior, but the changes there are barely noticeable: instead of a tachometer, an energy balance scale appeared, and new "electric car" sections appeared in the on-board computer menu.
The Nissan Juke Hybrid will be on sale in the European market in the summer.
