THE NEW VOLVO XC40 OF 2021 - THE MOST PROTECTED CAR
Volvo XC40 2021 is considered one of the most popular crossovers on the European market. And earlier this model was recognized in the Old World as the best parquet. The competitor of BMW X3 and Audi Q5 has partly earned this title thanks to an advanced safety complex that minimizes the likelihood of an accident in different conditions. A significant role in this was played by the Volvo XC40 engine range, which included 2 turbodiesel and 3 supercharged gasoline units with a volume of 1.5 and 2 liters. Already in the basic version, it has a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, leather seats and premium acoustics. In the top-end modification, this list is supplemented by heating everything, an electrically adjustable hatch, and other equipment.
Handling and off-road abilities
One of the main features of the Volvo XC40 lies in its 8-speed "automatic". The electronics that controls the gearbox ensures the fastest and smoothest gear changes. The second feature is that in terms of handling and comfort of movement, the Volvo XC40 2021 is no different from the "older" models CX60 and CX90.
The suspension of the Swedish model demonstrates a soft stroke. And the nature of the steering mechanism directly depends on the current speed: at low the driver practically does not feel it, and at high it becomes "heavier". Although in both cases there are no problems with a quick response. At the same time, the Volvo XC40 does not like sharp maneuvers even at medium speeds. In such situations, the car tends to go into a skid, which is prevented by an electronic stabilization system. The handling is also improved by numerous driver's assistants who keep in the lane and prevent body rolls.
Despite the fact that the Volvo XC40 is considered an urban crossover, it behaves well off-road. This is facilitated not only by the small exit and entry angles, but also by all-wheel drive with a 211-millimeter clearance. According to the manufacturer, the crossover is able to overcome fords up to 450 mm deep.
Dynamic characteristics and fuel consumption
The Swedish model with a basic turbo engine accelerates to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds, consuming about 7.2 liters of fuel. With a 190-horsepower engine, it reaches this mark in 8.5 seconds with an average consumption of 7 liters. The most powerful turbo engine provides acceleration in 6.5 seconds. At the same time, fuel consumption increases by only 0.1 liters. With the "younger" turbodiesel, the crossover gains a "hundred" in 10.4 seconds, with the "older" - in 7.9 seconds. The average fuel consumption is 5.5 and 5 liters, respectively.
Design
The Volvo XC40, like all the latest innovations of the Swedish brand, is characterized by a concise and at the same time modern design. The crossover is equipped with branded head optics with T-shaped LED strips and a large front bumper with expanded air intakes. At the back of the crossover there are large lights that stretch almost the entire length of the support pillars. The aft bumper is complemented by thin strips of additional brake lights and metal protection from below.
The salon of the Swedish model stands out for its functional design. Most of the center console is occupied by a vertically oriented touchscreen display, through which almost all electronics are configured. Just below it, there is a compact climate control unit. The dashboard, made in the form of a digital display, provides complete information about the state of the crossover. The finishing of the Swedish model uses expensive materials, including artificial leather and decorative inserts for wood.
Despite the compact size of the crossover, the passengers of the second row do not feel discomfort while driving. The volume of the luggage compartment of the Volvo XC40 is 460 liters, which is one of the best indicators in the class.
