Porsche tradition nowadays
PORSCHE is a German automotive company with the headquarters in Stuttgart. The company was founded by the famous designer Ferdinand Porsche as a design bureau in 1931 in Germany. In terms of the profit from the sale of each car, Porsche is among the most profitable automakers in the world. Moreover, in 2010 Porsche cars were even recognized as the most reliable ones on the planet.
Ferdinand Porsche’s company specializes in the production of the luxury sports cars and the off-road vehicles. The Porsche production depends heavily on the Volkswagen Group. Side by side companies develop unified vehicle designs and participate in motorsport. The engineers of both brands jointly developed the synchronizer of manual and automatic transmissions with the possibility of manual switching (later the system evolved to a push-button switch on the handlebars), turbocharging for mass-produced cars, turbocharging with a variable geometry of the turbine impeller for the gasoline engine, electronically controlled suspension and much more.
‘In the beginning, I looked around and could not find quite the car I dreamed of, so I decided to build it myself. Independence has always been the attitude at Porsche. To do, not what is expected, but what we feel is right.’
Ferry Porsche
This quote reflects the very essence of everything what Porsche Company is: as a brand, as a company, and as a car manufacturer. These words have been (and still remain) the guiding star of the company for over 65 years. Ferdinand Porsche’s dream of an ideal sports car has always inspired the company staff. And every day with every idea, every development and every model they were approaching to its achievement. They are constantly following the plan, striving for the ideal that unites them. The company workers call it the Porsche Principle - to achieve the maximum result in everything. From the very beginning, they strive to transfer the efficiency of work into speed and success in the most rational way. Today everything is decided not by the amount of horsepower, but by the number of ideas for each horsepower. This is also called ‘Intelligent Performance’.
Best representatives
Porsche is proud of its history. And indeed, they have something to be proud of: a huge number of victories in the races, an incredibly rich history of developers and the creation of their best models.
The Top-5 list includes several classic models: Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 and Porsche 550 Spyder. The third place is occupied by the modern Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The second place is given to Porsche 918 Spyder. It occupies this position thanks to its 4.6-liter V8 engine and several electric motors creating a special composition of sounds during their work. But even Porsche 918 Spyder could not get ahead of the Porsche Carrera GT, with its 5.7-liter V10 engine, which produces a sound reflecting the true essence of the Porsche.
Porsche novelties
Among the most striking new Porsche products of 2018 – 2019 the following models can be identified: hybrid SUV Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid 2018, new sports coupe Porsche 911 Carrera T 2018, Roadster Porsche 718 Cayman and coupe 718 Boxster with GTS modification.
In mid-2019, the Porsche Company will bring to market its hybrid sports car - the Porsche 960, which will compete with the Ferrari 488 and McLaren 675 LT. Despite the hybrid technology, the new model of the Porsche 960 car will not follow the 918 Spyder model but will use new innovative developments.
Can you imagine a Porsche crossover based on the 911 model? Porsche has long dreamed of releasing a car in honor of winning the Paris-Dakar rally 32 years ago. In 2019, we will see a new crossover with the character of the Porsche 911. Outwardly, this crossover will look like an auto-crossover Makan.
Moreover, until 2021, many updates are planned. Almost the entire line of the German automaker - from the sports coupe to various versions of crossovers and fastbacks Panamera – will change the design.
New Porsche cars can be seen every Saturday at the car exhibition in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
