The second restyling of the "luxury" Civic - 2021-2022 Acura ILX

In 2018, the Acura ILX became the company's first model to switch to the new style. The manufacturer subjected the younger car to restyling, the design of which was later used in the RLX and other cars of the brand.

Exterior

A lot has changed visually, the design has become even more aggressive, which is supported by the new narrow Jewel Eye LED optics with 7 diodes and L-shaped DRLs. We changed the style of the radiator grille to a 5-corner Diamond Pentagon Grille with a chrome trim. Chrome is still installed on the lower PTF. The shape of the bumper has changed, deepening somewhat at the bottom.

There are light blow-ups, other ILX 2021-2022 door handles, stylish chrome glass trim and nothing else of interest. The base version comes with 17-inch 5-spoke wheels.

The shape of the stern lights of the sedan repeats the head optics. There are also L-shaped lanterns. The trunk lid is slightly curved. The powerful bumper is made according to the fashionable architecture with some recess for reflectors that create false air intakes. At the bottom there is a diffuser-style plastic overlay, under which there is the exhaust pipe.

The buyer can order an A-Spec version, featuring a rear spoiler, rich dark chrome trim, 18-inch wheels and light blue one. The standard version can only be painted in 6 colors: white, black, red, silver, blue, bronze.

The dimensions of the Acura ILX have a minimum of changes:

• length - 4628 mm;
• width - 1793 mm;
• height - 1412 mm;
• wheelbase - 2670 mm;
• clearance - 135 mm.

Interior

In fact, visually little has changed inside, but technically the manufacturer has made improvements. The first is the same 7-inch touch screen in the middle, the performance of which has been increased by 30%. This is an On Demand Multi-Use Display 2.0 media that supports smartphone pairing.

They changed the design of the seats, especially in the A-Spec version, giving them massive lateral support. Naturally, the materials inside are decent: soft plastic, leather, wooden inserts. Optionally, the upholstery can be combined with Alcantara. The landing is low, the seats are electrically adjustable, although the adjustment range is not enough for tall drivers.

In front of the driver, there is the same 3-spoke multi-steering wheel, the number of buttons of which is frightening - 18 pieces in the maximum configuration. They left the new 2021-2022 Acura ILX with the same stylish instrument panel with two massive dials and a central informative display.

Now 2-zone climate control has become automatic. The GPS system analyzes the angle of the glow of the sun, the sensor measures the intensity of the rays and reconfigures the climate to maintain the set temperature.

What distinguishes the car from competitors is the security system of the AcuraWatch complex, which is already included in the basic package. There are:

• adaptive cruise control;
• automatic braking system;
• lane control;
• blind spot monitoring;
• monitoring the car around the corner when reversing.

Engineers also added high-strength steel and refined the body structure. NHTSA has tested the machine, awarding it 5 safety stars after the test.

Inside the Acura ILX, sitting is pleasant, if you do not remember about the seat settings. A pleasant audio system is installed, and external noise does not penetrate the cabin due to greater sound insulation and the Earth Dreams active noise reduction system.

Specifications

The old 2.4-liter naturally aspirated i-VTEC engine of the Earth Dreams family was left as the heart. The engine puts out 201 horsepower at 6800 rpm with 245 H*m available at 3600 rpm. The engine delivers pleasant sensations, because at high speeds Honda's proprietary VTEC is connected, adding torque.

The engine was paired with an 8-speed DCT robot with two clutches, docked to the front wheels. The box shifts smoothly, and in sport mode it quickly clicks gears, accelerating the sedan to hundreds in 7.7 seconds. The manufacturer claims that the engine consumes 9.8 liters in the city, and 6.9 liters on the highway.
