2020 TOYOTA C-HR - A CROSSOVER WITH AN OUTSTANDING LOOK AND RAV4 EQUIPMENT

The 2020 Toyota C-HR still stands out on the road with its striking, even extravagant, looks. This youth crossover is able to compete with the Nissan Juke in terms of exterior, and with the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in terms of equipment. C-HR is supplied to the Russian market with two engines of 1.2 and 2 liters, combined with a continuously variable-speed gear. This model is intended for city streets, but Toyota has equipped it with all-wheel drive. Starting from the basic configuration, the C-HR is equipped with LED lighting, basic security systems and a dual-zone climate control system. This list is supplemented with an improved audio system, leather seats and an air ionizer in the cabin in the maximum modification.

Specifications

When preparing the new 2020 Toyota C-HR, the manufacturer did not make adjustments to the design of the car. The Japanese crossover retained the front MacPherson struts, rear multi-link suspension and stabilizers, which are placed "in a circle". The engine range, combined with a stepless variable-speed gear, remained unchanged. The transmission transmits all the torque exclusively to the front axle.

By default, the Japanese model is equipped with a 2-liter "atmospheric" engine with distributed fuel injection. This motor produces up to 148 hp. useful power and 189 N﮲m of torque. A crossover with such a technical part gains the first “hundred” in 11 seconds, consuming an average of 6.9 liters of fuel.

Toyota C-HR is interesting not only for its appearance, but also for the fact that a less powerful engine is located higher in the engine range than a 2-liter "aspirated" one. We are talking about a 1.2-liter turbocharged unit with a direct fuel injection system, the maximum output of which does not exceed 116 hp, and the thrust level reaches 185 N﮲m. Acceleration to 100 km/h in the C-HR with this technical part takes 11.4 seconds with an average fuel consumption of 6.6 liters. In part, the deterioration in dynamic performance is due to the fact that the top-end crossover is offered only with all-wheel drive.

Design

Like its predecessor, the new C-HR stands out on the road with its original, sometimes aggressive appearance. The car, produced in a two-tone body with a black roof and side skirt, is equipped with LED head optics, which goes from a compact grille and almost reaches the windshield. The front bumper almost completely occupies the air intake with a fine mesh. Some of its functions are taken over by the ventilation holes located along the edges of the body kit.

Toyota C-HR as a whole gives the impression of a "muscular" crossover. This effect is partly provided by really large wheel arches, combined with non-standard cutouts and protrusions that adorn various parts of the body. At the stern of the C-HR, there are both a wing and a spoiler. Moreover, due to the compact dimensions of the rear glazing, both elements are practically in contact with each other. The exhaust pipes, presented in the form of inserts in the bumper, are also custom-designed.

The 8-inch touchscreen looks a little out of place in the cabin. This rather large screen seems to hang over other elements of compact size. Under it, the manufacturer placed a climate control unit with a monochrome display and buttons (without traditional washers).
