Chevrolet Traverse 2018: roomy family "Gulliver"

At the beginning of 2017 in Detroit, Chevrolet officially introduced the second generation of the Chevrolet Traverse mid-size crossover, offered in both seven and eight-seater versions.

In comparison with the previous generation, the car has noticeably grown larger, received a brighter and more modern exterior, more advanced technical stuffing and a wide range of modern systems and assistants.

Despite the fact that the company itself positions the novelty as a mid-size SUV, the dimensions of the Traverse surpass even its "big brother" - the Chevrolet Tahoe, which performs in a slightly different "weight category".

Chevrolet Traverse Appearance

Appearance is one of the strongest points of the Chevrolet Traverse second generation. And if the predecessor was more like a minivan with increased ground clearance, then the second generation is a full-fledged SUV, made in the corporate style of older Chevrolet models.

The front part of the body is represented by a large and original false radiator grille, aggressively designed D-Optic head optics and a monumental bumper with built-in round fog lights.

Despite its size, the car does not look heavy from the side, pleasing the eye with muscular wheel arches, massive rear pillars, a large glass area and simply huge 20” wheels. It is also worth noting the presence of the model name, located immediately behind the front wheel arches.

The impressive and monumental stern received large marker lights, a neat bumper and a pair of trapezoidal exhaust pipes.

The interior design of the crossover is made in the corporate vein of the latest Chevrolet models, which is dominated by smooth lines and only high-quality finishing materials are used.

The driver's cockpit features a neat multi-function steering wheel and a modern instrument panel that combines analog dials with a trip computer color monitor. The main element of the central part of the dashboard is a 7 or 8” monitor of the MyLink multimedia information complex, under which there is a neat climate control unit.

Depending on the version, the Chevrolet Traverse can accommodate up to eight passengers inside. The front riders are offered comfortable seats with a wide range of adjustments and heating, but with little pronounced lateral support. Between them, there is a massive central tunnel and a wide armrest.

The second row of seats can be represented by a three-seater sofa or two free-standing chairs, offering a comfort similar to the front riders. There is plenty of free space on the second row in all directions, which is not surprising, given the overall and length of the wheelbase of the car.

The volume of the trunk in a seven or eight-seat layout is equal to an impressive 651 liters, and if you lower the backrests of the second and third row seats, the volume of the hold increases to an immodest 2789 liters. Particularly pleasing is the perfectly flat loading area, which turns the car into a small van and allows you to transport bulky cargo.

Chevrolet Traverse 2018 Specifications

The second generation of Chevrolet Traverse is offered with two powertrain options:

6-cylinder atmospheric gasoline engine with a volume of 3.6 liters, 32-valve timing, variable valve timing and direct supply of a combustible mixture. All this allows you to squeeze out 305 “horses” and 351 Nm of maximum traction.

A 2-liter "four", equipped with a direct fuel injection system, a 16-valve timing, variable valve timing and a turbocharger, which in total allows you to produce 258 hp and 400 Nm of peak torque.

Regardless of the chosen engine, it is paired with a 9-level HydraMatic 9T50 hydromechanical automatic transmission with a front-wheel drive and the Traction Mode Select system, with which the driver can choose the optimal settings for the behavior of various components and assemblies of the car.
