2022 Subaru Forester after the upgrade has become more spacious inside. Simultaneously with the increase in dimensions, the manufacturer has increased the level of comfort through the introduction of new options. But this led to an increase in prices for the Japanese model. This competitor to the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V is equipped with multimedia, a standard set of security systems and an off-road assistant. Despite the fact that during the last modernization of the 2022 Subaru Forester it became more spacious inside, outwardly, as the photos show, the car has not changed much. But soon the crossover will receive a new body, redesigned as part of the planned restyling. Subaru also revised Forester configurations and prices, expanding the former and raising the latter. However, the technical characteristics of the Japanese model remained the same, although the manufacturer claims that the car has become better off-road and in the city.

The crossover is based on the same McPherson front struts and a double wishbone rear structure. The car is equipped with all-wheel drive standard for Japanese brand models, which effectively redistributes torque between the axles. Also, the crossover stands out against the background of its "classmates" with its ideal weight distribution and low center of mass, which provides it with excellent stability when moving in different conditions.

Standard engine on the Forester is a 2-litre boxer one. Its maximum output is limited to 150 hp. with a traction moment of 196 N*m. Such an engine provides acceleration to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds, consuming an average of up to 7.2 liters of fuel. An optional 2.5-liter boxer engine is supplied with the Japanese model. Its declared net power reaches 185 hp. with a maximum torque of 239 N*m. With such engine, Forester accelerates to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and consumes an average of up to 7.4 liters. A chain-driven variator is supplied with both power units.

The length of the Japanese crossover after the modernization is 4625 mm, width - 1815 mm, height - 1730 mm. The wheelbase is 2670 mm, the ground clearance is 220 mm.

Safety

Forester provides a high level of safety, which has been confirmed by numerous crash tests. The test results showed that in a frontal impact, the Japanese model protects the driver and passengers with a 97 percent probability. With regard to a child sitting behind, this figure decreases to 91%. At the same time, the Forester's on-board electronics turned out to be less effective. It only works properly 78% of the time. But even such an indicator distinguishes Forester from direct competitors. Similar results are shown by more expensive BMW and Audi crossovers.

Design

As noted earlier, the Forester remained practically unchanged after the modernization. The Japanese crossover still stands out with an outdated body, the design of which was developed several years ago. The car is equipped with a relatively compact radiator grille with a metal edge. A large head optics with LED lights departs from it. The front bumper, reinforced with a plastic body kit, contains large niches on the sides, which are also framed by a metal edging. Inside them, there are fog lights and air intakes. At the rear of the body, the Forester has large headlights of a non-standard shape. The stern bumper is fixed high enough and is also complemented by protection, but this time it is metal.

The interior of the Japanese model simultaneously combines a simple and expensive design. The leather upholstery of the seats and the competent arrangement of controls are responsible for the latter. The center console is occupied by a wide touchscreen monitor and an air conditioning unit with three large washers. The drive mode selector is still located on the relatively compact transmission tunnel. Thanks to the growth in the dimensions of the car, the Forester has become more spacious in the back row.
